Plant Development and Molecular Biology Lab

Welcome to the PDMB Lab
Light quality, photoperiod and temperature signals play very important role in the growth and development of plants. These conditions keep changing with the seasons throughout the year. How plants synchronize their growth with seasonal changes throughout the year is poorly investigated. Seasonal changes are critical for growth and productivity of crop plants. Using advanced molecular, biochemical, genetic and genomics approaches we try to understand the developmental aspects of many biological processes in plants using Arabidopsis and socio-economically important crops such as potato. Our main research focus is to understand:
- How photoperiod and temperature signals regulate flowering, dormancy and storage organ formation
- How light quality and, weather and climatic conditions affect seed dormancy, germination, and crop yield
